In our bustling lives, where responsibilities, deadlines, and expectations of career, relationships, and personal growth pull at our every moment, it feels like navigating stormy seas and it's easy to lose sight of yourself amidst the turbulence. Finding a sanctuary for our wellbeing is vital. Imagine a place that's always safe and secure, a haven from the stresses and worries of your everyday life. Welcome to Caladh, I'm Rory, my speciality is using Transactional Analysis (TA), a form of social psychology that helps you understand your personality, how you interact with others and how past life events could be affecting your here-and-now experience of the world around you. Working with me can lead you to greater self-awareness, and increase your understanding of why you react to situations the way you do, leading to a healthier relationship with yourself, family, friends and work colleagues. You can lift depression, ease your anxiety and overcome other problems that can affect your mental wellbeing. You are in charge of your own therapy and the direction it takes. I won't tell you what to do or what not to do - therapy will give you the tools you need to make your own decisions about your life. Working together we can overcome negative thoughts and behaviour patterns that may be holding you back from achieving your goals. Practice description: I founded Caladh Counselling and Psychotherapy (Pronounced; Ka-La, from the Gaelic word meaning harbour or haven) to provide a sanctuary for your wellbeing, from grief, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress or other challenges. Find an escape from the dreich and dowie days, a safe, nurturing space where you can heal, transform, and unlock your full potential. Get in touch and we can arrange an informal, free, consultation session...

Hello. I’m Camilla, a Psychotherapist trained in the modality of Transactional Analysis (TA). I am deeply committed to this work, particularly the therapeutic relationship as I believe that it is this that facilitates healing. I am compassionate, empathetic and sensitive (HSP informed) to the needs of clients. I bring 20 years experience as a Lecturer of Psychology, alongside experience of motherhood, marriage and my own transformative therapeutic journey. I am passionate about perceptions around neurodiversity, particularly ADHD and how it is understood and diagnosed. My degree in Philosophy and Psychology significantly influences the way that I practice – I have a particular interest in existential concerns. I live in Kendal with my husband, three daughters and much loved dog. I love reading, walking and watching documentaries.

I’m Ben, a psychotherapist based in York, and I support people to resolve life and relationship difficulties. I started Flux in 2019 with four main focuses, therapy, training, supervision, and consultancy. I have a huge passion to work therapeutically to make positive sustained changes, whether that is personally, professionally, or within an organisation. Often we feel life’s pressures, or that there is some is just ‘wrong’ but we are unsure of what ‘it’ is, we can resolve the it - to make you more you. I support clients with childhood trauma, complex diagnosis, as well as seemly day to day issues. In our sessions I tend to work flexibly, drawing on a range of specialisms to relationally explore what makes you, you. We collaborate together at your pace to help you manage what you have been experiencing, and then work together to help you take back control. My passion is to support people to make sense of what they are experiencing, and become free. I am UKCP, UKATA, and SWE registered. If you are interested and want further information I would encourage you to either make contact with me or look through my website or some of the other links below. https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/counselling/ben-groves-york-eng/875801 https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/counsellors/ben-groves

When working with me, you can expect a warm, empathetic environment to explore any issues you’re facing and process your feelings. I believe each person is the expert about themselves and my role as a therapist is to be a companion on your journey of self-understanding. Everyone has a different goal from therapy, but my hope is that you can leave our sessions feeling listened to and understood. I work with clients experiencing a range of issues and clients from different backgrounds and life experiences. I often work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and low self-esteem, and individuals experiencing problems in their work, family or romantic relationships. I have experience of working with neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism, and am committed to the neurodiversity affirmative movement. I also have experience working with young adults, particularly university students. I don’t believe therapy should be depoliticised: social, cultural and political realities affect our mental health. I am committed to social justice and liberatory practices, which informs my practice. I am trauma-informed and a LGBTIQ+ affirmative counsellor.

Who I work with:

Adults & Young Adults

I work with adults and young adults and families, on a short and long term basis. In addition to working in the traditional therapy room setting, I also offer outdoor therapy because I believe the natural environment supports our healing and growth. Outdoor therapy is an alternative to working in the traditional therapy room setting. Rather than sitting inside four walls, we literally go outdoors to explore issues and problems in the natural environment. You set the pace - whether it be a brisk stroll, or sitting under a tree - you decide what works for you. Being alongside each other, literally and metaphorically, can feel like being on more of an equal footing. This can enable you to open up more and engage with difficult feelings, making your sessions more productive. As a qualified Mountain Leader, I also offer therapy days in Yr Eryri (Snowdonia). What you might expect to gain from working with me is insight, personal growth and the development of your inner wisdom; I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and change, to work through issues such as depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. I believe that we can create the lives we want for ourselves and develop our full potential; it is a matter of learning to find our way.

About me and my approach to counselling We all live in a world that is frequently complex to navigate, personally and societally – one that’s full of challenges, putting pressure on our identity or our relationships. It is natural for this to make us feel anxious, depressed, alienated, hostile, withdrawn or numb. These are very human responses, and simply mean we have thoughts and feelings. Coping mechanisms, although often unhelpful later in life, typically had a very important purpose at one time. This is often one of the reasons why someone seeks counselling in the first place. If we agree to work together, I would invite you into an exploration of your story, to understand together what has happened in your life that makes you uniquely you. Counselling can provide a safe space and valuable connection which allows us to make new meanings and ways of thinking, ones that allow for greater flexibility. Ultimately, counselling can be a space to learn new skills and to let go of whatever it is that doesn’t work anymore. I work at each client’s pace: any change, big or small, no matter how important or constructive, is also always a loss. It involves letting go of something that has been very important in order to get here. This loss can feel sad and scary, or even like disloyalty to yourself or others. I am here to support you in this. I offer long-term or short-term work, according to each person’s needs. A meaningful counselling relationship has the potential to enhance all other relationships in life. At times this journey might feel difficult when revisiting vulnerable places, but ultimately, I am convinced that counselling can help you to feel better, even if it gets worse at first. I accompany people on this journey while offering an environment that is warm, compassionate and where they can feel held. I am curious for us to find out together who you are in the world, how you came to be this person and where you want to go. I look forward to meeting you if you think this process might be helpful to you.

If you are thinking about therapy, you may have a sense that ‘something isn’t right’, or you may have a clear goal or issue in mind. Wherever you may place yourself on that scale, therapy offers a safe, containing, and resourcing space. One where you feel supported in working through an issue that you are experiencing. I value the unique perspective, experience, and identity of each person I work with. I work inclusively, with a neurodiversity-affirming ethos. Valuing the needs, preferences, interests, communication styles of the people I work with. I use a range of styles and approaches to find the way of working that feels right for each client. Working together to discover and make meaning of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I am interested in finding what suits the needs and preferences of each client. Using a range of approaches, styles, and modalities in addition to my transactional analysis training, to move with the client throughout our work together in therapy. We can explore what matters to you in an environment where it is safe, where you are welcome, and you feel supported. Where you can experience a healing relationship, and where parts of you feel free to emerge and grow, without stigma or shame.
