I offer counselling sessions both in-person and online, depending on your needs and preferences. I am based near Bradford on Avon, and also cover the surrounding areas including Trowbridge, Melksham, Bath and Chippenham. As part of individual sessions, I also offer walking therapy—an outdoors-based approach where we can walk and talk at your own pace, or simply find a peaceful spot to sit and reflect.
Bringing the natural environment into our sessions can be incredibly grounding and can help ease the intensity of sitting face-to-face in a room or on a screen. Whether we’re moving or still, being outside often supports a sense of openness, calm, and clarity.
Walking therapy is available locally (near Bradford on Avon), and we’ll agree on a location that feels safe and comfortable for you. We would begin with a meeting on zoom.

I am an experienced therapist offering short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy, tailored to your unique needs and goals. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, and with the right therapeutic partnership, you can improve how you relate to others while creating a more fulfilling and autonomous life. My practice is video based, which provides convenience, flexibility and an accessible way to receive support, allowing you to engage in therapy from the comfort of your own private space.
My approach is collaborative and interactive. We will explore your past, address present challenges, and work together to help you move forward in the way that you want. I believe the foundation of effective therapy lies in a vital, trusting relationship, where you feel empowered to guide the direction of our work but also are invited to consider differing views. My commitment is to ensure that the process is both safe and genuinely helpful, providing the support you need for lasting change.
I have been working with clients therapeutically for nearly a decade in the charitable sector, in both PF Counselling and Cross-reach Addiction Service in Edinburgh. During this time my client work encompasses issues such as addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, work stress and relationship difficulties. I have many years of senior leadership experience in the corporate world, and with that a tangible understanding of the stress, anxiety and other work-related challenges that this can bring.

Hi, I'm Hannah :)
I am passionate about meeting people just as they are, offering warmth and kindness and sharing knowledge that stimulates and empowers our life force energy so that we can make conscious choices that move us out of stuck places.
I have personal experience and empathy with people managing life alongside such challenges as anxiety and panic attacks, cyclical depression, debilitating mental and physical fatigue, suicidal thoughts, insomnia, voice-hearing, and internal disturbance and struggle that is manifesting as unexplainable/undiagnosable physical pain.
Like many people’s Book Of Life, my story has a colourful and socially acceptable cover with many light and loving moments and tales of joy, connection and fulfillment… but some of the chapters also include experiences of abuse, trauma, loss, and grief. Engaging in various therapy modalities over the last decade has given me an insight into what is available, some offered me short and medium term relief and others planted the seeds for real change, but studying for my degree in Psychology With Counselling really cemented my desire to train in Psychotherapy so that I can go deeper than counselling with my clients when needed.
I believe in, practice and witness daily, the power of connecting to, listening to, and responding with understanding to what our bodies feel/do when we explore our stories and wounds with care and compassion. Here we learn how to navigate our emotions and bodily responses without shutting them down or getting consumed by them – an invaluable tool for processing the past, engaging with the present, and facing the future with confidence and self-trust. And finally, I am learning ways to live and work with (instead of within) the tones and traits of my unique neurodivergences in a neurotypical world, and I am enjoying sharing these tools and resources with relevant clients.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy sessions informed, in the main, by the modality of Transactional Analysis (TA) and I work with individuals, couples and groups.
TA provides us with a useful way of understanding our communications, attachment styles, relationships with ourselves and with others, and for gaining awareness and autonomy around our internal conflicts and patterns.
The core philosophies of TA are that people are OK, everyone has the capacity to think, people decide their own destiny and these decisions can be changed (Eric Berne, 1966).
In essence this means that relationships in the therapeutic space are founded upon the philosophical assumption that people have value, worth and dignity, self-acceptance for who they are and acceptance for others in the here and now, that they can decide for themselves what they want from their lives, and that changes to those decisions are an appropriate element of growth and development.
The therapy space I offer is held as an equal meeting place where, together and when you feel safe and ready to do so, we can explore your story and the chapters of your life so far, where we can get to know you and honour your feelings around your experiences.
The style of therapeutic relationship I endeavour to cultivate is one of open communication, where you can tune into your authentic voice without fear of judgement and develop your self-awareness in a co-compassionate space to utilise your own wisdom to make conscious choices and changes in your inner and outer worlds.
If you are interested in arranging therapy sessions with me, I offer an introductory assessment session on Zoom where we can get to know a little about each other, assess your needs, and decide if and how to proceed in working together to reach your aims. The assessment session is £45 and lasts for 1 hour. To arrange this simply email me at iokuoktherapy@gmail.com with a short introduction to yourself, your contact details, and an idea of your availability for the Zoom session and we’ll take it from there.

Who I work with:
Adults/Families/Groups and Couples
My background is in Childcare, Education, Health and Social Care, where I started as a Nursery Nurse working on the community with new mums in inner-city multi-cultural Derby and completed my career in this field as a lecturer.
I ventured into industry gaining knowledge of the world of construction, engineering, production, power, energy and waste processing. During this time I gained a wealth of experience beyond the world of academia and the care sector.
With each change of employment contract I pondered Counselling and Psychotherapy, having completed my BSc in Psychology at Nottingham and the Open University, I looked for a type of therapy that made sense in its approach for me. I had experienced CBT after the loss of a child but found the results weren’t long lasting. Eric Berne the founding father of Transactional analysis (TA) said that often therapies deal with the symptoms of the wound rather than the wound.
I am passionate about the inclusion of Neurodivergent individuals in everyday life and am an active advocate for the equality afforded to this group of people. I was awarded the Berne Institute excellence award for my work on inclusivity.
I am a trainee Psychosexual Psychotherapist and work with Kink and Queer clients, and all sexual problems that maybe encountered
I am passionate about the power of TA its premise of we are all OK and we all have the capacity for change.
I am a registered member of the European Association For Transactional Analysts (EATA), United Kingdom Council For Psychotherapy (UKCP), United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysts (UKATA) and am therefore abide by their ethical codes of conduct and practice.

When we begin our journey of therapy, we gently unveil parts of ourselves that we’re eager to understand more deeply. The therapist creates a supportive space, asking thoughtful questions that invite us to reflect on our emotions, thoughts, and past experiences. This exploration may shed light on why we feel the way we do and how our history influences our present. Together, we navigate the complexities of personal and societal expectations, empowering us to embrace our freedom and choices, even in moments when we feel isolated or misunderstood. Through compassionate conversations, we uncover new insights about our relationships and decision-making, allowing us to move through life with greater clarity and compassion for ourselves and those around us.
