My Passion and Identity As a psychotherapist, counsellor, supervisor, and trainer, I am passionate about emancipation and freedom. My practice is characterised by offering you a space—online, face-to-face, or outdoors—where you can discover your identity and regain a sense of autonomy and connectedness. I seek to support my clients in moving from a place of feeling perhaps lost and alienated to a position where they feel connected to themselves, others, and the ground upon which they walk. Many of us, after the lockdown following Covid at its worst, may feel disconnected or traumatised at some level by this experience. I seek to work with you to support you in reconnecting with your sense of self, connecting to others, and engaging with your life in the broadest sense, including a positive future. Depth of Experience I have been a psychotherapist for over twenty years now, and have a significant private practice in Horsforth, LS18, which was established in 2008. I not only offer therapy but also offer clinical supervision to other counsellors, psychotherapists and mental health practitioners. I am also Director of Training at TA Training Organisation, a master 's-level training programme for therapists. Location of the Practice - indoors, outdoors or online "The Horsforth Centre for Psychotherapy" is a specialist therapy building, opened in 2008, offering five finely appointed private counselling or training rooms, as well as refreshments and discreet toilets. The centre has around 10 practitioners working from it, all highly qualified and self-employed. We have a discreet waiting room, magazines and tea/coffee available on arrival. We have our own car park, or easy street parking is available on Low Lane, LS18, which is in Horsforth. I have many years of experience working online with clients via video, phone, and face-to-face. I also offer Eco-Therapy and experiences of working outdoors and in nature. Professional Background My initial training was as a counsellor, focusing on humanistic and person-centred ways of working. My training focused especially on the therapeutic relationship and how the interaction between the therapist and the client can be used to offer warmth, support, and deep clinical and psychological change. I went on to train as a psychotherapist and became a Certified Transactional Analyst. I am now a senior member of the Transactional Analysis (TA) community in the UK and have held roles such as a council member of UKATA, a chair of local and national conferences, and a recipient of a UKATA medal in 2018 for services to the UK TA community. I am now a trainer and supervisor and the Director of Training for the TA Training Organisation which is based in Leeds and trains psychotherapists in their career and development to qualification. I supervise many counsellors, psychotherapists, and mental health wellbeing practitioners. I have worked in the NHS for many years as a Senior Group Therapist, then as a CBT Therapist, and finally as a Tertiary Level Psychotherapist. I am very interested in mental health presentations. In the past, I worked in education and the corporate world as an account manager and then developed as a therapeutic and learning coach in the working world. My time now is spent working passionately as a psychotherapist, supervisor, and trainer, as well as doing some professional writing for publication. People whom I work with I work with "people" not "problems" - so most of all I am interested in your individual humanity, in you as a person and especially your narrative or "story". What has happened in your life and what is going on right now that might be causing you distress? Together we will work on areas that interest you, as well as the meanings you are making in your life. That said, I am very familiar with working with different presentations of anxiety, depression, sexual identities, gender identities, problems and difficulties at work or with academic studies. I don't work with young children but I do work with adolescents, young adults and grown-ups. I am very interested in working with corporate and business people and supporting them through difficult corporate change processes. I offer warm, supportive counselling as well as focussed change work and psychotherapy. Types of Therapy Offered Trauma-focussed therapies CBT - Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Transactional Analysis Humanistic Counselling Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Psychodynamic-informed Psychotherapy Pluralistic Approaches to Therapy Signing Off... I am informed by the ethical principles of Transactional Analysis: Commitment in Relationship Respect Responsibility Empowerment Protection These ethical principles I see as being relevant to you, to me, to the shared world in which we exist and to the psychotherapeutic profession as a whole. I am far from perfect, and look forward to working in a vibrant relationship with you where you are free to see my humanity and vulnerabilities... and I have consent from you to work with your processes. It is my hope that we, in working together, would offer each other these qualities and principles. I work very hard to keep a keen and sharp edge as a therapist and to offer excellence in my practice. I would be glad to hear from you if this sounds the right direction for you. Training, qualifications & experience I have held an advanced Diploma in counselling for many years and am accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists as a Senior Accredited Member. I am also on their approved register as a Registered Counsellor. I am a qualified psychotherapist, holding a masters degree in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. As a psychotherapist, I hold registration with UKCP as well as UKATA. Psychotherapy training takes approximately 6 years and includes many hours of personal therapy. I hold the professional title of TSTA(P) - meaning that I am a senior trainer and supervisor within the TA world and am qualified to train and supervise others in their practice. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from Newcastle NHS and Durham University and am an accredited CBT therapist with BABCP. I attend a rigorous programme of supervision and continuing professional development. I have worked extensively within the NHS for many years. I have extensive experience working with both individuals and couples and facilitating therapy groups. I have had the privilege of being a keynote speaker for national UK conferences with BACP, UKATA, ACC and other large organisations. I have recently completed a second Master's research programme in clinical supervision. I am currently studing for my Doctorate in psychotherapy.

I seek to offer a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space, in which to explore what may be standing in the way of you obtaining your most healthy and fulfilled self. My professional background has been in Social Care and mental health. I have worked alongside emergency services in these roles. I have worked as a psychotherapist for 25 years, and additionally trained as a psychotherapy supervisor. I have taught in a TA/ Integrative RTE, and examined both written and oral therapy candidates. Although Transactional Analysis is my main approach, I have additionally trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming; Motivational Interviewing; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness; Family Therapy, Couples therapy, and Brief Therapy. Therefore, I draw on whatever aspects of these are most suitable for the client's presentation. I now work online as I find it a very efficient use of time for both clients and myself; and a medium capable of achieving both intimacy and intensity.

I'M VICKI... I am infinitely curious about people and their experience in the world. As well as being seen and heard, I want my clients to be known for who they really are. So if you have spent your life wondering how you ‘should’ be in order to be okay, it would be a privilege to be alongside you as you discover who you are as a human. Whether you’re facing a recent challenge or trauma, noticing recurring patterns in your life, or want to explore the impact of a childhood that felt “normal” yet left you with less than you needed or deserved, I’ll be with you to begin to make sense and meaning of your experiences.

Who I work with:

Adults / Couples

I am a down to earth and compassionate UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience supporting adults and young people across private, voluntary, and statutory mental health services including the NHS. Having worked across a breadth of mental health settings, I have gained extensive experience of helping people struggling with a wide range of social, emotional, and mental health issues. I am passionate about delivering safe effective therapy which improves psychological health and builds resilience. I am ‘trauma-informed’ which means I am aware of the complex impact of trauma on a person’s distress and how it can shape their efforts to cope (e.g., using food, alcohol, overworking). I have trained in many different therapeutic approaches including Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Approaches, Polyvagal Theory, and Psychoeducation. I believe therapy is most effective when tailored to each person. My therapeutic style is integrative, and I will adapt my approach according to peoples’ needs and preferences. Special Interests Through my experience of supporting neurodivergent clients (with or without a diagnosis) and being a parent of neurodivergent young adults, I understand what it is like to be neurodivergent living in a world that was not designed for you. I offer a neuro-affirming approach and have a particular interest in helping people navigating the complexities of a late diagnosis or late self-realisation. I also have a special interest in working with stress and trauma through the lens of Polyvagal Theory (PVT); a theory developed by Dr Stephen Porges which emphasizes the role the autonomic nervous system plays in regulating our health and behaviour. PVT focuses on what happens in our body and our nervous system depending on whether we are regulated or dysregulated; it explains how our sense of safety, danger or threat, can impact how we think, feel, and behave in our lives and our relationships.

I offer a place where you can ‘come as you are’, where you can reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a confidential environment with someone from outside your day-to day life. In our work together, my aim is to offer a safe and supportive space where you feel truly heard, understood without judgment, and gently challenged when helpful. You’ll have the chance to explore how you became the person you are today, how your relationships have taken shape, and what changes you might want to make in your life. We’ll look at the thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations that may be holding you back. Through this process, you can begin to build new ways of supporting yourself, like managing difficult emotions, making sense of your thoughts, and relating more healthily to others. The goal is for you to feel more able to care for and protect yourself, and to make the changes that feel right for you.

Hello - I’m Sally, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, Certified Transactional Analyst, and trauma therapist. My journey into this field began over a decade ago as a counsellor, and my path naturally evolved into psychotherapy after I discovered Transactional Analysis. Before training in psychotherapy, I worked in industry, education, and welfare. Throughout, I’ve been deeply curious about how our minds work and about the patterns that shape our personal and professional relationships. I was drawn to TA because it was the first approach I found that offered both a framework for understanding ourselves and a way to explore the dynamics and communication between people. I like that TA can foster greater self-awareness, encourage personal growth, improve communication, and strengthen relationships. My special areas of interest include: Relationships - whether that’s intimate partnerships, family patterns, friendships, or the relationship we hold with ourselves. Trauma - including developmental and relational trauma. I am experienced in supporting people recovering from coercive control and emotional abuse; specifically mums experiencing post-separation abuse and navigating coparenting in difficult circumstances. Spirituality in its many forms— whether that’s a search for meaning, recovery from spiritual abuse, or integrating spiritual practices into life. Life transitions - including perimenopause and menopause, are another key area of focus. These phases often stir up identity, relationships, and self-worth. I offer both online and in-room sessions. My practice is based in South Yorkshire, close to ancient woodland and caves; a lovely location for those who would like to explore the option of outdoor therapy.

In addition being a Psychotherapist, I am a qualified teacher. I also spent a number of years working with vulnerable children and families, facilitating parenting courses and therapeutic fostering courses. I now work solely with adults. Through this work and my own personal experiences, I became more and more interested in Counselling and Psychotherapy and eventually decided to retrain as a Psychotherapist, gaining my Post Graduate and Advanced Diplomas and CTA (Certified Transactional Analyst). I have a passion for supporting people to realise their true worth and full value, and to become the people they were created to become. My personal and professional experience has shown me that many things can cause a ‘blip’ in our life journey. I believe that through working together and building a strong therapeutic relationship we can explore these and find healing and restoration.

I am a warm, empathic practitioner with a Diploma in Transactional Analysis (TA) and am currently undertaking further study to complete the Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) qualification. My work is grounded in the principles of TA and underpinned by a relational and co-creative ethos. I previously trained in Person Centred Counselling and was a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Addiction. I believe that meaningful therapeutic work is built on mutual respect, authentic connection, and a shared commitment to growth. I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they explore their experiences, develop insight, and cultivate change. My approach is deeply relational—I work alongside clients, honouring their autonomy while gently guiding the process of self-discovery. With a strong foundation in TA theory and a compassionate presence, I offer a thoughtful, professional, and client-centred therapeutic relationship that adapts to each individual’s unique needs.

I am a creative person who enjoys working with people in ways that suit their needs, often utilising visual and sensory resources. I chose the name of my practice, Connection Point as it reflects what I feel therapy is about; finding the points of connection and therapeutically meeting there. I work individually with adults and young people age 16. As well as my therapy space, I also have a studio space (on the same road as my therapy space) called Creative Corner where I run therapeutic art & crafts groups for young people experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance. These groups are for age 7+.
