I enjoy working with a wide variety of people who want to make changes in their lives. TA is my favourite modality by far, and I embrace the flexibility of other strands of knowledge and skills if the contract, diagnosis and treatment plan are supported eg EMDR, neurobiology, NLP, somatic practises. Individual work (long-term and short-term, regular sessions or one-off intensives) brings the opportunity for healing relationships, one to one, maybe giving voice to innermost thoughts and feelings for the first time - maybe peeling back another layer of the onion and going more deeply into the root cause of our discomfort and adaptions, exploring sources of physis and committing to autonomy through awareness, spontaneity and the capacity for intimacy. Group work (both open groups and closed fixed-term groups) offer many opportunities for relational work, psycho-education, trying out new behaviours, checking how one's frame of reference matches with others' and having one's own therapeutic journey witnessed and supported by other people. I've been working with survivors of sexual and domestic abuse in this way for many years and am humbled by the way in which my clients willingly bring their vulnerability and show-up. I am keen to offer trainees the experience of group work with the attendant benefit of a reduced fee - I have been blessed with great opportunities during my training journey and am ready to give some back

MY APPROACH I am Transactional Analysis trained but have interests in many other approaches and tailor my approach to suit the client/supervisee. I believe the relationship between therapist and client is fundamental to change and work in a relational manner. ABOUT ME I am a fully qualified and UKCP registered Psychotherapist, Suprevisor and Trainer; and I work with individuals, couples, therapists and trainees from my practice in Forest Gate, East London. I am also a PTSTA (Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst) and have a diploma in Relational Supervision. I have over 25 years counselling and psychotherapy experience helping people who are dealing with a wide range of issues, including confidence, depression, bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship problems, marital breakdown, sexual problems, addictions, alcoholism, eating disorders, problems arising from childhood experiences, abuse, bullying, feelings of emptiness, loneliness, living with HIV, workplace issues and much more. My clients have ranged from children working through issues around their parent's divorce through to CEO's of large organisations with feelings of inadequacy. I have worked in a variety of settings; in private practise, prisons and mental health organisations and across the spectrum to home visits and residential retreats. Hello, I'm Andrea and I am a Certified Transactional Analyst and UKCP registered Psychotherapist working with individuals aged 16 and over. I am based in Benenden in Kent and specialise in anxiety and depression. I do not have a magic wand and I cannot "fix" your problems for you, but I am a highly trained psychotherapist with extensive experience of helping people with anxiety and depression. I can work with you to unpick why you are feeling depressed and anxious and give you the support and structure you need to make positive changes. I offer face-to-face appointments from my consulting room in Benenden, in addition to online sessions using zoom.
