The term depression is used in different ways. We use the term in our day to day conversations with others, to indicate a change in our experiences. The term is also used as a metal health diagnosis and is one of the most frequent diagnosis when someone is experiencing poor mental health.
In this workshop we will look at what depression is (and what it isn’t) and how it can be different for every person we encounter.
As therapists we are going to encounter people who have both a mental health diagnosis and those who are living their usual lives but identify themselves as being depressed.
We can develop ways of working successfully with our clients, using a range of ideas from TA and other modalities, that help us understand our clients experience and our own responses to them. Our focus in the workshop will be what works for our clients.
Learning Objectives: –
- Will be able to understand the range of the changes people with depression experience
- Will be able to identify a range of way of connecting with the client and understanding what is needed to help
- Will be able to identify how these processes are understood using TA ideas and frameworks
