There are other ways of working with clients than individually, for example: couples counselling / group therapy.  Very few therapists consider the option of working with the family as a whole.  In this workshop we will learn when it can be beneficial to offer family therapy; it’s efficacy in comparison to other alternatives; what considerations and differences there are in family therapy;  how it can be an alternative to child and adolescent therapy (working with the child on their own).

Susie has been working successfully with families since 2009 on issues such as bereavement; individuation and separation stages; divorce; adolescent rebellion and oppositional defiance; plus general relationship / communication and conflict challenges.

Using TA and other Family Systems theories and treatment plans, you will get a taste of (and hopefully a motivation for) working therapeutically with the family as a whole.  The workshop will be didactic and experiential in content and is aimed at counsellors, psychotherapists, educators or healthcare professionals who are faced with issues that are caused by dysfunction in the family.

Trainer:  Susie Hewitt is a Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst.  She has an MSc in TA Psychotherapy (Middlesex Uni) and is registered and accredited as a psychotherapist and supervisor with both UKCP and BACP.   She has run a Private Practice in North Manchester since 2009.

This workshop carries CPD credits (particularly for those in TA Training who must count hrs with a PTSTA or TSTA trainer).
