The south Manchester centre for psychotherapy (smcp) offers high standards of training in psychotherapy, counselling and professional/personal development. The focus is on flexibility for those with work and/or family commitments.


The three parallel training groups are multi-level/modular and can be taken in consecutive years or spread over a number of years. smcp believes in absolute transparency and accountability and recognises the centrality of relationships in the learning environment and the needs of the individual learner. smcp is a purpose built, modern psychotherapy centre with 9 rooms, is easily accessible and situated in a leafy suburb of South Manchester: excellent transport/ free parking.


Director: Carol Lucas B.Ed Hons(Cantab), CTA, TSTA (p), UKCP registered, Chair of the Training Standards Committee for the UK.


Courses offered:

  • Understanding Human Personality (or ‘101’ course)

  • Fully Accredited Part Time – Weekend Psychotherapy Training leading to the Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) Psychotherapy award and UKCP registration. Also Certificate and Diploma qualifications that can lead to professional registration.

  • Professional Development Groups at The South Manchester Centre for Psychotherapy (smcp) and The North Wales Centre for Psychotherapy (nwcp)

  • Therapy Marathons in North Wales at the The North Wales Centre for Psychotherapy (nwcp) and closed therapy groups meeting twice a year.
