TASC Update April 2025
09/04/25, 11:00

Hello from UKATA Training Accreditation and Standards Committee. Our irregular update comes this month on behalf of TASC but also the Written Exam Committee. Here are a few important updates for students, supervisors and trainers that we both wished to share:
Updated EATA Training Handbook
EATA PTSC have released an updated version (January 2025) of the EATA Training Handbook. It can be found here: https://eatanews.org/handbook-2024/
The new handbook has been revised to make online forms easier to complete and has sought to simplify the language used in some sections. We understand that there are not substantive changes to the regulations and requirements, but we encourage all trainers and supervisors to familiarise themselves with this new version.
For all students working on their CTA exams, the UKATA Handbook on the UKATA website remains valid. We will update this using the new EATA Handbook in the coming months and notify you when this is published.
Note for CTA Exam Markers
Firstly, we want to thank everyone who offers their time to this valuable assessment process.
We also wanted to check that all markers have noticed the most recent requirements for the CTA (April 2023). This update is on our website. One change that has been brought to our attention concerns section D. Here is the updated wording:
‘It is also expected that examples illustrating specific concepts will be provided to extend your explanation. The exemplar material should preferably be from Section C.’
The change invites a more focused use of case material than previously when candidates were asked to use material from across their practice, including their case study client.
Update to the UKATA Personal Therapy policy
A small clarification has been made to the UKATA Personal Therapy policy, that doesn’t change or effect the substantive rules. It clarifies for Registered Training Establishments (RTEs) how they go about Accrediting Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) for a potential student where training and personal therapy hours undertaken during a previous psychotherapy training course are being considered.
Best wishes from TASC to all the UKATA members taking examinations at the UKATA conference, and to all the UKATA members supporting the examinations.
