Shame, often debilitating and elusive, is a core aspect of relational psychotherapy. This one-day workshop will help therapists understand and articulate the phenomenological experience of shame, using numerous client case examples.
The workshop includes:
- Exploration of relational psychotherapy theories and concepts by Cornell, Shadbolt, Nathanson, and De Young.
- Examination of challenging relational dynamics and countertransference.
- Understanding clients' responses to shame and its various types.
- Creative strategies for working with shame and recognising its symptoms.
- Addressing recurring shame patterns in relationships, therapy ruptures, and mistakes.
The workshop is suitable for intermediate and advanced students and professionals and offers a Connexus Institute certificate and 6 hours of CPD. There will also be opportunities for post-event supervision and further discussions on the concepts introduced.
