About the event
Often when uncovering historical information about the client’s family makeup and significant others, do we account for, or enquire about animals? How significant is the person's relationship with their pets?
In this seminar we will think about our relationships with pets. We will touch on the importance of using pets in the therapy space and could this be a help or a barrier to the therapeutic process.
Michelle has worked alongside many clients who have experienced developmental trauma and their pet offered unconditional love which at time provided reassurance and care at a time when they could not rely on the adults in their lives. Her dog currently provides some humour and healing balm to several clients.
Michelle will draw on the work of Jung and Freud to illustrate the importance of pets in the therapy space.
