Eating your Script: Tyrannical Dimensions of Food
Time & Location
28 Jan 2023, 09:30 – 16:30

About the event
Our relationship with food dips its roots into the very essence of living and being, both biologically and psychologically. What happens to the food happens to the Self.
Together we will explore both sides of eating: the concrete, in its biological reality, and the metaphorical, as a substitute for relatedness. We will cover physiological aspects of over- and under-eating, psychological aspects of family enmeshment and self-disturbances and archetypal symbolism of food.
The workshop aims to provide a framework to begin thinking about Eating Disorders, Eating (Dis) orders, and Disordered Eating blending together medical realities and psychological understanding. Framed in experiential learning, this workshop aims to invite us as professionals to reflect on our own relationship to food, eating and body shape and how that may impact our work with clients.
This integrated perspective will also help the therapist in their decision making on referrals, involving medical professionals, and opting for a the treatment direction.
