Stage Three marks the fourth and final year of the counselling/psychotherapy program and focuses on advancing participants' knowledge and skills in facilitating psychotherapeutic change. The emphasis is on working more deeply to support individuals in making positive transformations, and it also aims to help participants solidify their identity as TA psychotherapists.
Over eleven weekends, participants engage in topics such as the UK mental health system, deconfusion of the Child ego state, intersubjective therapy, intergenerational trauma, defense mechanisms, recovery from pathological relationships, dream analysis, and professional development. Upon completion of Stage Three, participants will have finished their formal TA training and are eligible to progress toward UKCP Registration via the UKATA Case Study route or the Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) exam and qualification as a UKCP registered psychotherapist. Key requirements include submitting a final supervisor's report, completing two 2500-word essays, and delivering a presentation reflecting on their identity as a psychotherapist.
This stage concludes the formal TA training at academic level 7, paving the way for participants to undertake the CTA exam. Those preparing for this final step are encouraged to explore the CTA Exam Preparation Programme offered for support during this significant milestone in their journey toward becoming a psychotherapist.
